A Merry Christmas To You

I just came back from having an amazing evening catching up with a friend who was visiting from Germany. It's been forever since we had a heart-to-heart; we enjoyed some great quality time over great food at our usual little place in downtown Princeton. If you have never eaten at Teresa Caffe, you'll have to try it. It has a very small seating area, so get there early. They also offer a great wine selection to pair well with the lovely home-made pastas and pizzas. I suppose I could do a food post sometime...

When arrived I was delighted to realize that I still had time to throw a card together for Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #21. I have this gift card that I wanted to dress up for Christmas. So when I initially spied this next sketch last Saturday, I knew it would come in handy.

It's also my lucky week, because wee Memories' Challenge #29 is "anything goes." Thought I'd throw in my card amongst the entry for fun!

So with the help of Very Vintage Christmas stamp set, this came together:


Stamps: Very Vintage Christmas (Waltzingmouse Stamps)
Paper: Paper Basics Card Stock - Kraft (Papertrey Ink); Eskimo Kisses (Basic Grey); Preppie Pack - Plum (Bazzill Basic Paper Pack)
Ink: Pigment - Black (Colorbox); Tea Dye Duo - Chai (Papertrey Ink)
Embellishments: Soft-core Color Pencils (Prismacolor);  Celebrate It Ribbon - Green (Michaels)

I drew the color inspiration from the gift card color and decided to pull some pattern paper that had hints of the same plum. The little mistletoe is just a cute embellishment to offset the kraft on kraft and give the pattern paper a repeat.



A little vintage touch and voila - a pull gift card holder with a little bit of non-traditional Christmas colors of plum and green.



Isn't the Whole Foods' sentiment "thyme to celebrate" not oh so punny? I was snickering when I bought it...Anyways, I'm quite pleased with this result. Simple, sweet and to the point.
