[DYSU] Challenge #76 - For a Man or Boy

Good morning, everyone! This an exciting day at DYSU for us, because our new girls are debuting their projects. Make sure to say hi to Archana, Barb, Meredith and Rebecca...

We are challenging all of you to make something crafty for a man or boy in your life. After all, Father's Day is just around the corner. Does any one know what they are getting their dad's yet? I'm stumped... 

This week I'm working with a sponsor image by Bugaboo Digi Stamps. My dad's always busy working and jet-setting across the globe, and sometimes I think he needs to relax a little. Take time out for himself to take care of himself. But he always puts family first. So this card is for him...

Here an upclose look at the fun side chair. I gave it a textured look by running the Woodgrain impression plate over it (as well as on the white card stock). The heart really stuck out to me, so I wanted to give it some glitter. The doodled, white heart on the top right is just to bring the whole postage stamp concept back...



These wood grain Thickers were actually my first inspiration point and decided to make this the theme of the card. Aren't these Thickers greats?

For Dad

Wow, I'm back in the country. It has been a whirlwind of travel - but more later. Now, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things with my crafting & blogging. Dad - You're the Best

So it's finally safe to post this card :) With my brother's new job, my dad's travel schedule, and my travel schedule, my mom was ready to throw her hands up in the air when we were trying to plan a Father's Day outing. After much delay, we finally got together, two weeks later. I had this card created for my dad and did not wanted to post it here before he had a chance to see it. Evidently, my dad found my blog and has been commenting regularly in our conversations about my card-making abilities (e.g., "Why don't you open your own card store?") Isn't that just so sweet?

For this card, I knew that I wanted to try Erin's origami shirt tutorial from Schlosser Designs. If you have not checked out her site, hop on over. She has such great ideas for sewing and stamping that makes gifting or every-day. And she has great tutorials that she posts up every Tuesday. My next project will be a passport cover, since I travel so darn much. And Lilo (the Sewing Machine) needs to exercise more ;)

But I detract...without further ado I present a 100% Erin-inspired card:

Dad really loved it - especially the tie. Since I could not find an appropriate place to add the sentiment, I just stamped a sentiment "Dad - you're the best" in the card.
