[Uniko Studio] Design Team Blog Hop - Extra Time Revisited

Good morning, everyone! I can't believe we're already on Day 11 of the new year. Since arriving home I had all these to-do's and I have been meaning to stop by this blog space to wish everyone a happy new year. Instead I am still trying to figure out New Year cards with Florian and they still haven't been shipped off to the print shop. Go figure... It's only Month One and I already feel behind...anyone else out there?

But I'm here to start today's post with some brilliant news. Yours truly have been inducted into the ::drum roll:: ...Uniko Studio Design Team. Yep - a full teamie that will be showcasing you everything from clear stamps down to the digi sets. So this is going to be an exciting year for me as well as for Uniko Studio. I think I'm still pinching myself over Bev's decision (which she had told me over Christmas break) since I will be designing along side a bunch of talented girls, some of which are Moxie Fabbers, Paper Idol Finalist...as you see I feel quite overwhelmed by this privilege.

Today we're here on a blog hop to revisit an oldie but goodie stamp set called "Extra Time" - ahh the irony that I feel like I'm already behind, and Bev chose this stamp set! You'll be nearing the end of the line of eye candy and should be hopping over from Nicki. If not, feel free to start at the beginning.

My ode to time look like this: sticking with basic neutral colors, this card could be for any recipient - boy, girl, older or younger.

It's been too Long!
Stamps: (Extra Time) Uniko Studio
Paper: (Paper Basics Card Stock - Vintage Cream, Kraft) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Memento - Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Embellishments: (Decorative Paper Tape - Numbers) Cavallini & Co; (Tim Holtz Idea-ology Decorative Tissue Tape - Sketchbook) Ranger; (Nestabilities - Standard Circles Small) Spellbinders; (1 1/2" Circle Punch) Marvy Uchida; (Metals - Circle Sticker) Mark Richards; (Acetate)

I added a bit of washi down as a layer to anchor my many clocks as a starting point. Then I stamped out the different face styles and then cut out the clocks with my nestabilities. The larger clocks fit perfectly into one of the metal frames. The smaller clocks are actually identical sizes to the larger ones, but I wanted to have varying circles in diameter. It breaks up the monotony. This is where my 1 1/2" circle punch came in super handy to make a smaller clock face.

It's been too Long!

In case you're wondering if the center clock looks a little shiny...I added a layer of clear acetate to make it a little extra special. I also popped a metal circle sticked onto the center and cut out some hands to finish it off. So this center face (which I popped onto some foam adhesives) has a few layers for some interest.

It's been too Long!

Hope you feel inspired to get your crafting up and going again. And if I remember correctly, Bev is going to draw a winner to win this stamp set from among the blog hop, so remember to comment along the way. In the meantime, I'm sending you off to our last stop Stacey.

Here the whole list for easy navigation ...
I hope you like what you're seeing. Until next time...(see what I did there? har dee har har ... )

Exciting News...

Photobucket

Hello everyone - i'm super excited to be spilling some beans on this blog. If you are a follower of this fantastic new company Uniko Studio then you might have seen the new additions to Bev's Design Team. If not, go run over there ;)

Yep - it's official. I'm part of the Uniko Digital Design team. I'm so happy for this opportunity. Thank you, Bev! I am quite intimidated by this whole line up of girls, but I am sure I will learn a lot from these girls.

In the meantime, if you need a little bit of enabling, there is fantastic Autumn sale at Uniko going on until November 1. If you happened to snag something, come back and share :)

[Mami Doodles] Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner...

Hello everyone & happy belated Halloween! We had a snow storm along the East Coast. I witness a bunch of wrecks with totaled cars on my very slow, slow drive home on Saturday; and am just overly grateful that my friend Kat and I arrived home so safely. Along my road I saw two separate cars end up in ditches and had to be hauled out by tow trucks and snow plows.

The weather channel didn't predict this much snow (or chaos) for our area, but I think the fact that we're having a snow storm in October and being "caught by surprise," didn't allow for enough preparation. Let's pray for the many families that still don't have power... I hear they might have to wait was long as Thursday!

Anyways, I am finally back online! We still have an internet outage at home and Comcast is trying to figure things out, but in the meantime I am currently on another business trip and the hotel has a fabulous connection. So here I am to give you a quick wave and check in to let you know who won the Mami Doodles prize from my previous post. My Random.org draw is #2 Carol.

Carol said...
Great card, love the button treatment. Traditionally at Christmas we have home made stuffing and bread sauce (use packets rest of year!). Carol x

Thank you all for participating in our fun blog hop. You still have until this Thursday, Nov 3 to enter a card in our Black & Orange challenge for a chance to win a pack of 4 fun Christmas/Winter digi.

I'm stacking it up...did you hear?

In case you were wondering where I have disappeared to, I was internet-less for the entire weekend. They had to re-do the entire line across the street and feed it back into my house...but now I'm back online and loads happier that I am connected again and can share some exciting news that I have been dying to tell you!

My online, crafting buddy Janna was sadly announcing her departure from DYSU (Do You Stack Up?) and at the same time I saw a call for the new Design Team. I threw my name into the hat and never thought I'd make the cut, but yours truly is a proud new member of the DYSU Design team. It's such a great challenge blog, since the gals are really from all over the world!

Check out the post, I can hardly believe it! And I am looking forward to working with this exciting group of gals!

A New Store ...

One of my online crafting friends has had this dream to pursue her own store. And that special day of launching is today! This dream belongs to no other than the sweet, dear Lisa Hjulberg. So please head on over her store blog and leave her some grand-opening, celebratory greetings and a few cheers. If I were her, I'd be nervous as a wispy leaf wavering in the wind.

I saw the previews and I haven been super psyched about some of those kits! I can't wait to get my hands onto some of the Claire Brennan exclusive stamp designs. So, hop on over there :)

Creating with Mami Doodles

I received a sweet email from Elisa, the owner, creator and brain child of Mami Doodles, requesting if I had interest in joining her Design Team. Evidently, she found my blog through a friend and liked what she saw and thought I'd fit in with the team.

Funnily enough, my first run-in with Mami Doodles was through Vera when Vera organized the Caring Hearts Card Drive. One of the generous sponsors was Elisa where she offered up some adorable digis from her store. So, I immediately was all ears to her invitation. Her digis are adorable, sweet and fun - fits right into my "style" of cards.

Can I just say how flattered I am to be part of the Mami Doodles Design Team? Thank you Elisa for this wonderful opportunity. Your email really made me blush!

So by now, if you have read this far, I owe my crafting buddy Vera a big shout out and thank you for passing on my blog to Elisa! It's so exciting, because I met Vera last year at CHA Chicago 2010 and we just clicked. Ever since then we have remained crafting and email buddies! I'm really honored to have Vera as my big sis on my two new Design Team gigs :)

So starting this week, you will be seeing some Mami Doodle creations. There is a challenge every other week and for every round there are prizes to be had...so I hope to see you join in on the fun!

Something Exciting to Share...

Who knows the talented & sweet Sandie Dunne? A year ago, I would not have raised my hand to that question. In fact, a year ago I did not even have any paper crafting supplies. But then I fell into this addicting hobby (thanks to a certain other smallhanded friend) and became a convinced clear acrylic stamp user and quickly fell in love with Waltzingmouse Stamps. I learned of Sandie Dunne through her DT position with Waltzingmouse Stamps and am always amazed with what this creative, innovative woman comes up with!

Since Sandie
announced it over at PaperPlay Challenges, I can shout it from the mountain tops. I get to work with this amazing woman! Thank you, Sandie! I'm looking forward to my DT position and can't wait to get to know the gals. They are one talented bunch too! So, starting next week, won't you hop over to PaperPlay Challenges and play along?

Also, a big and special shout out to Belinda who has been my cheerleader and Jedi Master along my paper crafting journey!

Ok, back to being silly excited like a grade-school kid ...

Scrap Our Stash News

I have exciting news to share! Kathy, who runs a challenge blog "Scrap Out Stash," has invited me to stay on as a Design Team member! I'm thrilled, because
  • this was the first blog I submitted a challenge entry (and won ;) - thanks to a little pushing and shoving from Steph
  • love the girls who are passionate about their craft
  • the gals are extremely encouraging, especially when one starts out learning techniques and styles
  • my two Swapping Sisters, Laurie & Steph are part of this fun gang
  • this is a terribly useful group - they encourages you to use up your stash, have neat frugal tips & tricks up their sleeves, and throw out fun challenges
I'm just overjoyed and cannot wait to get to work! Kathy, I hope I make you proud!

I hope you'll join me on my adventures. August turns out to be half way over, but there are plenty of fun things going on:
  • Check out the August Challenge - it's as simple as use flowers on your project. If they are hand-made, that's even better.
  • A new & exciting type of challenge - "Pagerize This!" Wouldn't you like to be the first one to win one of these?! Winners get bragging rights and a chance to be the next "Pagerize This" Designer.
So, come on over and give it a go! I want to see what you have up your sleeves... I might even send you a little surprise if you enter both challenges...
