[Uniko Studio] June 2014 Release - Introducing Flower Power #5

Hi everyone - remember me telling you one of the famous series were back? Have you guessed it yet?

It's the release of another fabulous set to the Flower Power series. Lots of fun elements and here is the sneak peek again.

I've been in a crafting mojo rut - probably with all the running around for wedding prep and kitchen renovations. But that I'll get to in another post, or so I hope ;)

I always am trying to find interesting ways to use the stamps in our sets. I used two litte parts in this stamp set - probably the smallest untypical parts of the set. They are suppose to be used to stamp the stamen or pistil of the flower's center. I like how those little outlined circles or solid circles could be interesting texture. And bubbles or circles make me think of water and ocean. Anyone else have this association?

So I went wild and searched all blue and blue-like ink pads in my stash and went wild. Turns out I had a few when put together... ;) After playing around for bit, here is my work in progress.

Many Thanks

Here is an up close picture. See the outlined circles and the solid circles? Love the texture that it creates.

Many Thanks

And here is my outcome of my little tag. Good thing I started with a small canvas, cause if I tried to stamp a whole card panel I might still be stamping furiously and not be done by the time this blog post goes live ;)

Many Thanks

I added some drops of gold confetti across and used Candi Gold Wedding pieces as air bubbles. The Thank You sentiment is also from the set, and I am loving the font.

Many Thanks

Another quick detail I want to show you is the Hero Hues Unicorn white across the tag to add a bit of texture. Adds another layer of dimension that changes the tag.

Many Thanks

Hope you liked this little tag. We will be back tomorrow for another preview of another set being released. See you then?

[Uniko Studio] Challenge No. 6 - Sketch

Hi everyone - did you miss us? We enjoyed our much needed break, but it's a new year. We're back to the swing of things and are starting things off with a easy peasy challenge: a sketch.

None other than our talented Gayatri has put this together. So make sure to go leave her some love!

Mine is super quick. I was looking for a graphic look. I also loved the paper that I found floating on my desk. Isn't it great when we find a starting point?

Thank You
Stamps: (Background Builders - Round in Circles; All Occasion Sentiments #3) Uniko Studio
Paper: (Paper Basics Card Stock - White) Papertrey Ink; (Corey Add-on Kit - pattern paper) Studio Calico
Ink: (Creative Color Pigment Ink - Winter, Ocean) Mama Elephant; (Memento - Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Embellishments: (Wood Veneer - Sundrifter) Studio Calico

I wanted to add layer on the pattern paper by stamping a bunch of circles from the Background Builder set. I love how Winter matches the paper so well and adds a subtle piece of interest. To match the sketch a bit, I picked another design from that same set and stamped it a more bolder Ocean color.

Thank You

Finally I just added a sentiment and decided to "scatter" a few wood veneer pieces that also had triangles & circles to match the stamping and the paper. It felt quite good to go about the card without much plans and just "throw" stuff onto the card front.

Thank You

Check out the rest of the girl's cards and leave them a sweet comment or two. Remember you don't have to use all the colors - any or all as an inspiration.

Lastly, a few helpful things to remember:
  • Challenge ends Feb 14th, 2013, 11:59p BST; Check back for the winners after
  • Prize is £10 Gift Certificate to the random Winner & a Guest Design spot on our following challenge

  • We would like you to use a Uniko Studio product; If you don't have any, check out the freebies here

[Little Tangles] Challenge #25 - Give Thanks

Hi everyone! It is already the end spurt of November. I can't believe that Thanksgiving is exactly a week ago. I'm not ready for this!

What better way to get into the game than to create a card Giving Thanks? And if you're not celebrating Thanksgiving, these is always a need for Thank You cards…!

Thankful for You
Stamps: (My Heart Sings, A Lot to Say, Thankful Turkey) Neat & Tangled
Paper: (Brown Card Stock) Bazzill; (Perfect Match Card Stock - Vintage Cream) Papetrey Ink;
(Fitzgeral AddOn Kit: (pattern paper: Blink of Life, Studio Calico)) Studio Calico
Ink: (Creative Color - Hazel) Mama Elephant; (Jenni Bowlin - No. 5 Chicken Feed, No. 9 Spice Tin) Ranger
Embellishments: (Fitzgeral AddOn Kit: (Wood Veneer Butterflies) Studio Calico, (Blue Enamel Dots) Freckled Fawn) Studio Calico

I found some pretty stellar pattern paper out of some Studio Calico kits lying out on my desk and stamped the speech bubble from A Lot to Say. I also stamped the bird in Spice Tin ink on some beautiful blue and green pattern paper from the kit, and decided to color him with my ink pads. Amazing what a little bit of water and ink does, right?

Thankful for You

I also added a bit of orange color to the patter paper to make the foreground pop more.

That's all I have for you. Go see the other girls' creations. They will surely have many inspirations for you...

Here is the reader's digest version.

Moxie Fab! Thanks - Blog Hop

Hello there - hopefully you're coming from Eva Dobila's blog. And if not, you might want to start from the beginning at the Moxie Fab World. Grab a cuppa, or two, and a sandwich. It is a long ride...it's a huge virtual "flash mob" style celebration for a very special someone: Cath Edvalson.

    Dear Cath -

In a nutshell, Thank you, Cath, for everything you have done! I have been a fan since the first time a friend pointed me to your blog. As a newbie in the card making and stamping world, your blog posts were always a sure source of inspiration and "what's currently going on." I love that I had a place to see great visual inspirations, find talented (and new to me) designers that became my source of inspiration, and a place to see your prediction of up and coming trends come through. You, my dear, gave me a community that wasn't bound by a type of crafting style, a community based on fandom for a manufacturer, or a poor of people who shared the same challenge interest. You were all of it. And you were always the first place I would look to.

Do you know how much you are loved? At least a blog hop with 285 people. Only you can pull a flash mob like this together. And that's just the beginning.

On that note, do you know how much *I* love you...? (sorry for the poor photo quality...stuck on a business trip and pulled this card off the iphone)

Let me just say, I don't like to share my crispy bacon strips! ;) The flip side of course is how much I will miss you... hella lot. Your wittiness, your honesty, your keen eye for up and coming trends. You are my go-to gal. I will miss your face, but as the banner says, you will always be my Moxie Fab World. You know, old habits die hard!

We are celebrating you today as an iconic person of this stamping community today. You have given us so much, and I can't wait for you to do things for yourself. This job was hopefully fun but also hard work and time. So, Cath, thank you again for everything you have done.

Stay Moxie-Fabulous. I look forward to seeing you in the blog world, under a new catchy Cath name...no pressure there ;)

    Yours truly,
    smallhanded me

Off you go to Jessica Shelton-Buffa.

[Little Tangles] Challenge #23 - Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone! So after falling very un-ladylike off the bed (I was standing on it to fix something on the ceiling fan) and getting a concussion (ugh...), I am slowly recovering. They say most of the accidents occur at home...yep, I can check that one off.

Just a quick note that we're putting together some cards for Dear Grayson. Also a dear Little Tangles and Neat & Tangled supporter Heather Ruwe is putting a little fun card together for this champ. In addition, she is doing a GIVEAWAY for anyone who will provide card to Grayson. So hop on over there and put this week's sketch challenge to good use!

Good thing visual memory has nothing to do with crafting... my sense of style isn't completely broken. I hope. You be the judge with the quick card I made making my own Sketch. I'm throwing this into the mail for Grayson, and if you don't know what I mean, check out this link.

Here is my card for the sketch...

    Thankful For You
Stamps: (On The Strip 2, Thankful Turkey, Little Tangles) Neat & Tangled
Paper: (Perfect Basics Card Stock - Orange Zest) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Jenni Bowlin - No. 10 Malted Milk, No. 11 Brown Sugar) Ranger
Embellishments: (Sequins - Festive Fall Mix) Neat & Tangled; () MT Masking Tape

Isn't this Turkey just too cute? Absolutely cute...
    Thankful For You

That's all I have for you. Go see the other girls' creations. They will stun you too.

Here is the reader's digest version.

[Little Tangles] Challenge 12: Yellow, Aqua, Coral - Pick 2

Hi everyone! I've been out with one of the worst stomach flus and yesterday was my first day out and about like a real person. Feel like it's the first time that I can look at food pictures or even think about food without getting nauseous. So here I am trying to get back on my feet. We don't have too many days left in the old apartment and my wonderful friends are coming to help us move on Saturday. So after that you'll be hearing how cumbersome the unpacking is ;)

To tie you guys over, here is another Littles Tangles challenge. This is very much like going into a Panera's or Qdoba and ordering a Pick 2. We have a  Color Challenge for you and asking you to pick two of the following: yellow, aqua, or coral. If you're an overachiever, you can go with three ;)

So here is my card for you

      You Are Too Kind
Stamps: (Kindness Matters, A Lot to Say) Neat & Tangled
      Paper: (Paper Basics Card Stock - Aqua Mist, Sweet Blush, Vintage Cream) Papertrey Ink;
Ink: (Brilliance - Galaxy Gold) Tsukineko
Embellishments: (Stamper's Select Vellum) Papertrey Ink; (Stamp 'n Stuff Embossing Powder - Clear) Stampendous!; (Soft-core Color Pencil) Prismacolor; (Point 88) Stabilo; (Mister Huey - White; Mister Huey's Masks - Bubbles) Studio Calico

The card base is created by misting some Mister Huey White onto a Mister Huey bubble mask. There are plenty of fun motives out there, and they easy enough to apply.

I then stamped off the A Lot to Say speech bubble with some decadent gold ink and created a mask to fill the inside area with a fun heart pattern from Kindness Matters. Then I picked one of the random hearts to outline and color in. Everything is matted onto a sweet blush card stock.

I also embossed the sentiment "You are too Kind" onto a piece of vellum that I wrapped around the speech bubble.

      You Are Too Kind

Hope it inspires. There is tons of other good stuff by the Design Team to stop by the other girl's creations. Also - keep an extra eye out on the Little Tangles blog. You don't want to miss an important announcement that is coming up.

Don't forget that one lucky winner will get a free Neat & Tangles Stamp set of their choice.

A few helpful things to remember:

[Little Tangles] Challenge #5 - All About Buttons

Hello there. This will be a quick and dirty post from my side. If you have been following my twitter thread, you might have heard that Jojo was in the ICU. I'm happy to report that she is home with us now, with special orders by the doctors to keep her under close observations. For those of you who have been thinking, praying and crossing your fingers - thank you for your support! Jojo is lucky to have many so many pet-loving friends.

Today at Little Tangles we have a special surprise for you. We are teaming up with Mossy Made. The brain child behind Mossy Made is none other than the talented Chari Moss. My first time running into her blog was through Lawn Fawn, but I'm happy to say she's part of the Neat & Tangled Design Team. If you have been to Chari's Etsy shop, you know she makes some wonderful buttons. So, appropriately, our theme is All About Buttons.

Forgive this little card - I made this in a hurry. If I didn't keep dropping my needle and having problems threading the silver thread, I bet I could have entered this into the 10min Craft Dash.

      You Are Too Kind
Stamps: (Kindness Matters) Neat & Tangled
Paper: (Paper Basics Card Stock - Aqua) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Memento - Tuxedo Black, London Fog) Tsukineko
Embellishments: (Soft-core Color Pencils) Prismacolor; (Point 88) Stabilo, (Buttons) Mossy Made

I kinda just grabbed my button, blindly a card stock, and the leftover tulle I wrapped a wedding gift with. It kind of went like a mystery box challenge (on those kitchen shows). Here an up close picture of the buttons, since those are pretty much the highlight of the card ;)

      You Are Too Kind

So I hope you have hopped over to the other girl's creations. And in case you need more incentive to bust our your creative supplies...A free stamp set is at stake...

AND a set of beautiful buttons

One lucky challenge winner is going to get two sets of goodies. So jealous...
A few helpful things to remember:
      • Challenge ends Jan 27, 2013, 11:59p EST; Check back on Jan 29 for the winners
      • Prize is ONE Neat & Tangled Stamp set of your choice AND ONE set of Mossy Made buttons to a random player
      • Neat & Tangled stamps are not required on your entry, but we would love to see you use them. If you would like to use some Neat & Tangled products but haven't had a chance to buy any, we have a couple of freebies on the Little Tangles site. Enjoy!

      [DYSU] Challenge #100 - Thanks

Good morning, DYSU-ers! If you celebrate Thanksgiving last week, did everything come together as planned? I hope so, because we had a lovely fest with friends. In the meantime, we are giving you a chance to say thank you to those that you haven't had a chance to meet...

We are asking you to make something that expresses Gratitude: Time to say Thanks

My little card uses a Little Claire Design image that is just too cute...

      Thanks
      Stamps: (Mouseflower) Little Claire Designs
Paper: (Paper Basics Card Stock - Rustic Cream) Papertrey Ink; (Nightfall Autumn Collection) American Crafts
      Ink: N/A
Embellishments: (Soft-core Color Pencils) Prismacolor; (Point 88) Stabilo; (Martha Stewart: Writing Pen - Sepia) EK Success; (Nightfall Autumn Collection: Accents & Phrases Stickers, Delights Spice Flowers) American Crafts

I decided to color the mouse and flower in the same hue of the Nightfall Autumn Collection. This way I could try to make a dent into this stash...

      Thanks

Quick and easy this time around...You may have ready that we're going to close DYSU done. Yes - the girls were all very sad over this, but we can understand that Alison has her hands full with The Alley Way Stamps store. We are going to finish out the year, so I hope you will join us all the way up to Challenge #104.

I'd like to invite you to hop on over to see the amazing creations by the rest of the DYSU team. Please leave them a loving comment, because they do appreciate some blog love :)

Stamps: (Fruit Barrow) Crafty Sentiments; (Big Bloom - Chrysanthemums) Waltzingmouse Stamps
Paper: (Paper Basics Card Stock - Fresh Linen) Papertrey Ink; (Miss Caroline "Dolled Up") My Mind's Eye; (orange) scraps

The main scalloped circle is impressed with woodgrain plate for added texture. The fruit barrow is colored with Prismacolor color pencils and paper pieced with some My Mind's Eye.

      Thank You

The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps and the rest of the embellishments are from Papertrey Ink. Quick way to anchor a sentiment.
